Sneak peak at book 5!
We’ve been hard at work on the final volume in our series, and are now excited to offer you a little preview. Have you been wondering which letter of the alphabet would get the alliteration treatment in this title? Seek no more!
Rescue and Redeem: Chronicles of the Modern Church will take you deeper into the lives of late 19th century - mid 20th century figures you’ve heard of (like Dietrich Bonhoeffer), and introduce you to others you probably haven’t (like Niijima Jo). The cover will feature another beautiful illustration by Jonathan Williams, this time of the brilliant and fearless Pandita Ramabai of India, education pioneer and rescuer of child widows. Following the pattern of previous volumes, this one is scheduled to release this November in the UK and January in the US.
Stay tuned for more details—and thanks for reading!
New “Fans of History Lives” group on Facebook
Attention, Facebook members! History Lives now has a Facebook fan group for readers (of all ages!) who enjoy this series. Meet other readers, discuss your favorite characters or events from the books, or describe how you’re using the series in your kids’/students’ history curriculum. Have fun!
History Lives series featured in Findlay, OH exhibit
If you’re in the Findlay, Ohio area, drop in at Winebrenner Theological Seminary to see an exhibit featuring the History Lives series. Brandon is teaching there this year, and because the other faculty appreciate this practical application of a scholarly discipline, they invited us to put the books on display for students and visitors. So you’ll now find their beautiful glass case filled with info about our series plus a few historical artifacts, including rare books and a brief photographic timeline of Gospel of John texts (P66, Sinaiticus, Gutenberg, and Eliot’s Algonquian translation, to be precise), which follows the chronology of our series. Stop in and take a look!

History Lives series highlighted at Westminster Theological Seminary
Posted by Brandon
On December 29, Westminster Theological Seminary—where I did my Ph.D.— highlighted the History Lives series on their home page (complete story here; but note this biographical correction—Mindy’s title on staff there was “Associate Director” not “Assistant”). Wtsbooks.com, the campus bookstore of Westminster, has been a fantastic supporter of our series and continues to offer the best prices for each volume.
